Health and wellness is a priority. With LEARN, you’ll have health, dental, prescription and vision benefits to help you stay well. And that’s just the start. We also offer an annual health screening, virtual doctor visits, flexible spending accounts and more.

Paid Vacation, Personal and Sick Days

LEARN employees work hard, but we also like our employees to take a break. All employees receive paid personal days, sick days that accrue and carryover plus at least 10 paid holidays. Administrators and non-instructional staff are eligible for paid vacation. Our instructional staff receive multiple paid breaks during the school year and of course over the summer months.

Chicago Teacher’s Pension Fund/Teacher’s Retirement System

LEARN staff at Chicago campuses with an Illinois Educator License are required to participate in the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund (CTPF). LEARN contributes 4.5%; staff members contribute 4.5% (9% total contribution). LEARN staff at our Lake County campuses who are required to participate in the pension fund based upon their position, contribute to the Teacher’s Retirement System (TRS). LEARN contributes 5.88%; individual staff members contribute 5.88% (11.76% total contribution).

Retirement Annuity/Savings Plan – 403(b)

Available upon hire, you are able to contribute pre-tax wages to our 403(b) savings plan. And, if not eligible for one of the pension plans, you will receive an annual 4.5% contribution by LEARN to your 403(b) account to support your retirement goals.

Paid Parental Leave

After working for LEARN for six months, parents may apply for 10 paid parental leave days for the birth, adoption, or foster placement of a new child up to age 16. This is time available in place of any days from an employees’ personal bank of sick, vacation or personal days, and offered in addition to any regular FMLA leave. Upon return from leave, new parents are gifted five additional parental days.

Commuter Benefits

Our Parking and Transportation Reimbursement Program allows staff to pay for qualified commuting expenses before taxes are applied: up to $255/month in train and/or bus passes and up to $255/month on work-related parking expenses.

Flexible Spending and Dependent Care

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) allow you to save money on a pre-tax basis to pay for qualified medical expenses and/or dependent care expenses you may incur throughout the year. The money you put into your FSA is done so on a pre-tax basis. This means you are lowering your taxable income and also not paying taxes when the money is used for qualified expenses.

Health Savings Account (HSA)

Employees who elect LEARN’s high deductible health insurance plan option will be eligible for an annual employer contribution to your HSA in the amount of $500 or more, depending on medical coverage plan selected.
